Nissan to Introduce Altima, Rogue and Murano in South Korea
Nissan Motor Co. will begin rolling out cars in South Korea bearing its own brand – the Altima sedans, Rogue and Murano SUVs.
South Korea has a growing demand for imported cars and presently only Nissan's Infiniti luxury brand is on sale there.
Nissan's target sales – 10% of South Korea's import market by 2015 or 10,000-12,000 vehicles a year.
Nissan will have four dealerships – 3 in Seoul and 1 in Pusan.
South Korea sold some 40,000 imported autos last year or about 4% of passenger vehicle sales. Only 1,710 of those were Nissan Infinitis.![]()
Demand for imported vehicles is expected to grow to 100,000-120,000 in the next half dozen years.
Nissan wants a piece of the market.
Toyota and Honda, which lead in the market, and have an edge in fuel-efficiency are not likely to share.
