Microsoft is planning to of its Xbox 360 game console by around 30% to try and boost sales in Japan and gain on Sony and Nintendo.

The current price is Y27,800. The new price will be Y19,800 ($182), cheaper than Nintendo’s Wii which goes for Y25,000.

The week ending August 10th, the Xbox outsold Sony’s PSP3 for the first time ever. Building on that momentum, Microsoft says “Cut prices and sell.”

The role-playing game “Tales of Vesperia” was given credit for boosting Xbox 360 sales. Seems to me that MS ought to make more games instead of just cutting prices…or maybe some combination of both.

Nintendo’s Wii is still far far ahead.
