Toyota Builds Houses in 6 Hours!!

In Kasugai, Toyota pre-fabricated houses are 85% completed before being transported to their final destination.

But, here is the kicker. Once the parts arrive, the house can be built in 6 hours! Talk about Toyota efficiency.

I used to work on a mobile home crew. We would pull mobile homes to parks where they were then set up…the process of getting those homes settled took us more than 6 hours.

But, then everyone was paid by the hour and maybe they weren’t in a hurry.

Nothing beat’s Toyota’s Production System with the two principles of just-in-time delivery and kaizen (continuous improvement).

Toyota has applied those same principles to its housing industry.

The steel frames in the houses are painted with anticorrosive paint using methods adopted from its car production.

Toyota houses use the same keyless entry system for houses that they do for their cars.

The windows of the houses are made from the same shatter-resistant glass that Toyota uses in his cars to deter burglars.

Its builders follow the Toyota "Good thinking, good products."

Now, if I could drive my house, well then I’d be a happy camper, wouldn’t I?

Toyota knows business.
