Rajinikanth’s ‘Robot’ mania sweeps Japan

It was reported on 12 June,2012 that Robot was released to a thunderous response in Japan last month. The Japanese love Rajanikanth’s film and he is known much for his film Muthu. Hence it is no surprise that Robot is welcome with such a great response. Robot is a dubbed version of Tamil movie titled Endhiran .
It was simultaneously released in Hindi, Telugu and Tamil to a thunderous collections in India. Directed by Shankar , the movie had Rajanikanth play two roles, one of a scientist and other the Robot that he develops.
Robot was reportedly re-edited to two hours to suit the people there. However, it became a rage in the country, so much so that on popular public demand, the 3 hour version of the film is being screened at 1300 theatres across the country.
Four weeks have gone but it is still going strong. Robot is still competing with mainstream Japanese films. The song Irumbile/Naina Miley has become an anthem and the Japanese are humming to it despite the language divide.
