Japan Missing Kyoto Protocol Target

Japan will likely miss its Kyoto Protocol Target of 6% reduction from 1990 levels by 2008-2012.

Greenhouse gas emissions were UP 6.4% during the fiscal year which ended in March of this year.

Down, 1.3% from 2005 but still up overall.

The Environment Ministry said the country will make every effort possible to reach the 6% reduction target.

Plants and factories were up 0.6%.

Building sector dropped by 2.6%.

Housing sector emissions dropped 4.4%.

The warm winter is credited for the drops.

Transport sector fell 0.9%

Emissions during the April-June quarter, however were up 4.8%…but the figures are lacking credibility says the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.

What global warming?
